SUNDARESAN RAJESWAR, TEYSEER GROUP INTERNAL AUDITOR BESTOWED COVETED CA DILIP THAKKER CA PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVER AWARD 2017

 The CA Dilip Thakker CA Professional Achiever Award was instituted by the founding chairman of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Doha Chapter CA Dilip Thakker in the year 2014.  The Award was established to recognize an Indian Chartered Accountant residing in Qatar for exceptional contribution in the Accounting/ Finance profession, to Industry, to the Profession and the Community at large.  The purpose is to motivate CAs to aspire, to work and to contribute to becoming exemplary CA Professional Achievers. The awardee is decided after a rigorous nomination and scrutiny process by a five-member award committee consisting of past and current chairpersons of the chapter.

 “This year’s awardee is a shining example of a professional achiever and has a story that inspires. He came from very humble beginnings, and his path to becoming a Chartered Accountant was beset with hurdles. He grew up in rural India, and at the young age of 9, he suffered an attack of typhoid which left him with poor eyesight and a poor mental state. Over the years, he battled his deficiencies to complete his Bachelor of Arts, Chartered Accountancy,   and many specialty certifications – Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor,  Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Control Self Assessment Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, Certified Government Auditing Professional and Certification in Risk Management and Assurance.  He is presently pursuing a Ph.D. with the subject of his dissertation being Internal Audit in a cultural perspective.” Said CA George Issac, who represented the award committee.

Rajeswar continues to be a lifelong student, he also disseminates his knowledge, teaching, mentoring and coaching particularly on the subjects of audit and internal audit, which are his forte. He has taught MBA subjects to university students as a guest faculty. He has also participated in programs to introduce young school students to CA as a career option.

 He has been active in promoting the Accounting and Auditing profession in Qatar. He was Past Chairman of our ICAI Doha Chapter. He was a Founder, Director and Past President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Qatar Chapter. He is a thought leader in Internal Audit and serves global Committee of Research and Education Advisors of IIA Global, the body which guides the future direction of IIA.

 Rajeswar has honed his speaking and leadership skills with the Toastmasters movement, where he is a Distinguished Toastmaster and is presently the number two leader of the District.   

 ICAI Doha Chapter founder chairman Mr. Dilip Thakker summed it up best in his message of congratulations to Rajeswar “Your contribution and dedication to further the cause of the profession and upliftment of numerous people whom you have mentored will always be remembered as unparallel in Qatar.”

CA Amarjit Chopra, Past President ICAI along with members of award committee consisting of M A Farid, Gopal Balasubramanium, Gaurav Kakkar, George Issac and Rupalakshmi Shetty presented the award plaque and gift to CA Sundaresan Rajeswar.

 Rajeswar in his acceptance speech said “It is in the name of CA Dilip Thakker that I accept this award with great gratitude, utmost humility, and sincere thanks. Mr. Thakker and I were colleagues for 16 years with Teyseer Group, and he encouraged me throughout to go to greater heights. I am thankful for his generous, and incredibly kind words.”

 “The international conference onthis scale and magnitude with an array of speakers, the line up of sponsors, local participation sets the momentum for advocating profession. Congratulations to Chairman Gaurav and a fantastic team. God bless that potential we all have for making anything possible if we think we deserve it.” Rajeswar stated.

 Rajeswar thanked Teyseer Group management and all his colleagues for support. He also thanked his family members immensely. “This award is the conviction that I made a difference in some manner. I know that many are equally deserving. This award stands for united efforts of many. Even though it has my name in it, I achieved it because of many who determined to meet the challenges together.” Rajeswar said.
