The Doha Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held the third international conference on November 24-25, 2016 at the Sheraton Doha.

The event kicked off on with a brilliant talk from the Padmashree awardee and a past president of ICAI Shri TN Manahoran who spoke on India's resilience through turbulence, and he also dealt at length on the positives from Demonetization in India, and the short term issues faced. SM Sundaram Sivaramakrishnan, partner in Barrings equity plus based in California spoke on Emerging Markets - attractive or avoidable. After these two technical sessions delivered at ease by two eloquent speakers, the official inauguration function had chief guest HE Ambassador of India to Qatar Mr. Kumaran, President of ICAI India Mr. Devaraja Reddy
An important segment was conferring CA Dilip Thakkar Professional Achiever Award for 2016-17. Mr. Dilip Thakker is the founder chairman of the ICAI Doha Chapter and Teyseer Group’s Financial Controller for over 3 decades who retired couple of years ago. Mr. Gopal Balasubramanium Partner with KPMG was recipient of this award this year.
A panel session titled "transiting through turbulent times" moderated by Teyseer Group Internal Auditor and the past presidents of Doha Chapter CA Sundaresan Rajeswar in which Mr. Kamal Negi from QFC, Mr. Waleed Raslan Abdulla from QF and Mr. Fawad Iddrisi of Abu Issa Holding offered their insights and thoughts on various aspects surrounding the turbulent times - challenges faced and actions required.
The day 2 started with session on analysis of Middle East economy by Mr. Raghu an investment analyst based out of Kuwait. This was followed by E&Y presenter on Value added Tax. The session on leadership by Adithya Maheswaran was outstanding as he dealt with “Leadership during turbulence with leadership in turbulence” The afternoon session had great motivational talk by Rahul Kapoor Jain who enthralled audience for 90 minutes with amazing anecdotes and concept selling his well-researched aspects of human psychology, spirituality and management
